Grilled Chicken recipe using curd and lemon
Grilled chicken is one of my favorite chicken recipes. Its simple, its healthy and does not involve too much effort in cooking(ie frying, stirring etc). I always keep browsing for new recipes on the internet and one of the most interesting (and currently my favorite) form of grilled chicken is Curd and lemon based.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 400 gms of chicken on the bone, preferably leg pieces
- Curd - 150 gms
- Dried Red Chillies - 3 to 4
- Green chillies - 2
- Lemon - 1
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Sunflower oil - ½ teaspoon
- Garlic - 5 to 6 pods
- Fresh coriander - chopped
- Butter
- To start off this recipe, you need to first make incisions on the Chicken pieces. Make 3 incisions on each side
- Next, add some salt and pepper to the chicken. Add the juice of half a lemon.
- Marinate the chicken well and leave it aside for 15 minutes.
- Grind the dried red chillies in a grinder to prepare red chili flakes
- Crush and finely chop the garlic pods
- Chop the green chillies finely
- In a bowl, add the curd, chopped garlic, chopped coriander, red chili flakes, chopped green chillies, juice from the remaining half of the lemon, salt, pepper and oil. Mix the ingredients well.
- Add the chicken pieces into the above curd mix, and marinate the pieces well.
- Leave the chicken to marinate for 2 to 3 hours (the longer the better; I left it to marinate for 6 hours in the refrigerator).
- Pre-heat the oven to 180 deg Celsius. I used a convection grill microwave oven which has the preheat functionality.
- Grease a baking tray with butter, put the chicken pieces on it. The butter prevents the chicken pieces from sticking to the tray. If you so wish you may also grease the chicken pieces with a bit of butter on the top
- Put the tray in the oven and grill for 18 to 20 minutes.
- Once done, let it be in the oven for another 2 to 3 minutes to allow the juices to cook the chicken from the inside.
- Serve hot with some coriander and mint chutney.
This dish can be had as an appetizer or a full fledged meal with roti or paratha. Hope you will enjoy preparing this.
